Prenatal Lite is a program geared for patients who feel they simply need the tools and then they’ll be able to take care of themselves. It has been designed to give patients all the tools they need to self manage their prenatal weight gain.
- Prenatal lite starts off with a free consultation with a BMI physician to ensure mutual program suitability.
- Once enrolled you will have a measurement done of your resting energy expenditure by means of an indirect calorimeter to help guide dietetic and caloric recommendations.
- You will be provided with an 11 week food diary and a book of calorie listings.
- You will have an initial one hour one-on-one consultation with one of BMI's registered dietitians and 3 twenty minute one-on-one follow ups to review dietary patterns and choices.
- You will attend two group 1 hour classes – one on general nutrition and one dealing with issues pertinent to the pregnancy and early childhood including issues specific to prenatal nutrition, breast feeding, how to make homemade baby food, infant and toddler feeding as well as the psychology of childhood eating (including issues surrounding inappropriate practices such as food rewards, the clean-your-plate club, the appropriate use of juice, misleading nutritional labeling, nutritional facts panel interpretation etc.).
- You will also meet with one of BMI’s personal trainers for a full hour and be provided with an exercise ball and resistance bands and have a program designed for you which you can do on your own at home. During the initial meeting you will also be instructed as to the dos and don'ts of exercise and pregnancy. You will meet with the trainer again near to the end of the program for a 30 minute review and follow up.
The cost of the Prenatal Lite program is $550 and is all-inclusive.
